Pick one of last year’s Long Road Music Videos and post it onto your blog with comments about camera/editing/setting/performance/genre conventions
Camera shots in this music video are quite varied with lots of close up and mid shots. Also another good techinique they have used is to keep the camera moving via tracking and panning techniques as well as the characters singing in the music video also moving around and expressing the lyrics through body language and facial expressions.
Editing is kept sharp and in beat with the pace of the music. Shots are short and snappy especially during the chorus where no lyrics are sang. Cut aways are also made of good use in this music video to break up the shots of the singer; who is the main focus of the song.
Settings in the music video are kept to a minimum but for this song it seems to work quite well as the shots and camera work are varied and it seems alot of thought has gone into camera angles, techniques ect. Also the few locations you do see in the video seem to have a relavence to the mood of the lyrics and sounds of the song.
The performance in this music video is very good, there is one main character(the solo singer) whos performance is particularly good. You can tell alot of effort has gone into planning what outfits to where and what gestures to make. The lip sinking is also in tune with the song.
The genre of this particular music video is pop. It is a typical chick flick song generally aimed at teh female audience. The video that this group has managed to produce fits the mood and atmosphere of the song, which is happy, upbeat and delicate.
